World Teacher’s Day – Sat, 5 Oct, 2024 | History | Download Images, Quotes, Pictures, Wishes, and Status
Almost everyone has a favorite teacher, someone who has done their best to encourage you because they can see your potential. On October 5, a global event is celebrated called “World Teachers' Day”, which was launched by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 1994.
Given
that teachers shape future generations, the least we can do is take one day a
year to say "thank you." No matter where you are in the world today,
remember that teachers are important.
On
this special day, 1966 UNESCO Recommendation on the Status of Teachers was adopted.
It sets standards for the rights and responsibilities of teachers for their
initial preparation, higher education, employment, placement, and learning
conditions.
The UNESCO Courier 2020: “With the theme: 'Young educators: the future of the profession', we recognize the fundamental importance of reaffirming the value of the mission of teaching. We call on governments to make teaching the profession of the first choice for young people. Above all, we celebrate the work of dedicated teachers around the world who continue to strive every day to ensure that “inclusive and equitable quality education” and the promotion of “lifelong learning opportunities for all” becomes a reality for all.
Importance of World Teacher’s Day
1. Honors
the teaching profession
Waking
up at dawn, the patience of the saint, positive influence, exhausting work;
Let's face it. On World Teachers' Day, gifts, praise, and parties are great
ways to show you care.
2. Highlights
current issues affecting teachers
Sure,
having a summer is a very desirable feature, but there are still many complex
problems for teachers within education systems around the world. These include
preserving academic freedoms, establishing autonomy for educational
institutions, and developing and maintaining professional teaching standards in
higher education. Fortunately, World Teachers' Day allows discussion at teacher
meetings, webinars, seminars, and conferences.
3. Salute
progress but challenge stagnation
Although
the education system and the role of teachers in it have come a long way, there
is still a long way to go. For this reason, the United Nations created the
Sustainable Development Goal for Education 2030. World Teachers' Day is essential
to fulfill this goal and to encourage teachers more to stay in education.
How
to Celebrate World Teacher’s Day
1. Surprise
your teacher with a gift
Kids
can show their appreciation by giving their teacher an honest thank-you card, surprising
them with crafts or home photos, or by writing an admiration poem.
2. Make
teachers feel special
Parents
love teachers too. On World Teachers' Day, show them how much they do.
Participate with your local PTA to host sweepstakes on gift cards, coffee mugs,
and other prizes. Offer coffee and cake or ask parents to host a shared
breakfast for teachers before the school day begins.
3. Give
teachers the real treatment
Being
a teacher can be stressful, exhaust, and frustrating. On World Teachers' Day,
school administrations must pamper their teachers. Having lunch for them or
surprising teachers with a 10-minute massage are great ways to let them know
that your hard work doesn't go unnoticed.
