Since
1992, World Oceans Day is celebrated every year on June 8. It is a critical
environmental topic. It is a day to raise awareness about how we, no matter
where we live, are connected to the oceans and what we can do to protect ocean
habitats. Today it aims to focus on new ideas, technologies, and products for
more sustainable management of our ocean resources.
It
is widely recognized that the Earth's oceans are essential to human survival.
There are millions of people who are dependent on fish and other marine animals
for their food. We get food and medicine from a deep blue color, and this
helps keep the climate under control. We know that human activities have
negatively affected the health of the oceans: pollution, overfishing,
acidification of seawater due to increased carbon dioxide, ocean warming, and
habitat destruction. There is a lot we can do to repair the damage.
Importance of World Oceans Day
1. Perspective:
For
many people, the beach means having fun in the sun. But sometimes we don't even
think about what this water means to us. It is essential to the biosphere and
we want to ensure that future generations can enjoy it. The creatures that live
there, too. And when you look into the distance and see ships heading who knows
where it's a powerful reminder that we're all connected.
2. Motivation:
Much
of our waste is not biodegradable and leaves the ocean to clean up messes.
Throwing recyclables into the appropriate container is a good first step, but
we have to bring the habit back home. Even if you don't live near the coast,
let your friends and family know how recycling puts a big smile on the face of
the ocean.
3. Majesty:
We
never need an excuse to go ashore, but we'll gladly take one. Sometimes, we
just have to put pressure on ourselves to see how beautiful the place is. The
sunset reflected in the water looks like something out of a painting. It gives
us the perfect opportunity to clear our heads and make us relax.
How to celebrate World
Oceans Day
1. Make
a Pledge:
We
must come together to protect the oceans. We must pledge to work for the
sustainable development of nature.
2. Clean
up the Beach:
Keep
sustainability in mind when visiting to celebrate the beautiful surroundings. For
activities like lighting the barbecue, we must go to the store to buy supplies
with a reusable carry bag instead of a plastic bag. For throwing a party, we
must bring our dishes instead of throwing away plastic plates. After thinking a
lot about saving, it would be a shame to throw everything away and throw
everything ashore. So, clean up after the party and hope others must also
follow this.
3. “We
are blue, tell two” challenge:
However,
we must learn two facts about the ocean to tell others about them. Perhaps the
best idea is not to tell the same facts to the person who taught us, but the
repetition leads us to reality. This is called the "We're Blue, Say
Two" challenge.
