On the day of Juneteenth Day, there is a holiday after getting rid of Slavery in the United States. This day is celebrated on 19 June, 1865 when Maj Gen. Gordon Granger reached Galveston, Texas. It is informed to all the people of texas, that the Civil War had ended and all slaves were free, in accordance with an announcement from the Executive of the United States.

While before two years ago (1863) third year of ongoing civil war President Abraham Lincoln announced salvery were abolished. But 250,000 slaves in Texas were not aware of it. In 1866, It was the first time to celebrate Juneteenth.

Juneteenth is the oldest national festival celebrated at the end of slavery in the united sates. It provides an opportunity to African Americans to enjoy their own culture and heritage.

This day is also called Liberation Day and Independence Day.

This word is a combination of June and Nineteenth. It is celebrated in many states of America. In 2020, Growing companies of America like twitter, spotify, Lyft, Nike, Google added in their official calendar for the first time, But it is paid holiday. There will also be equality between personal rights and property rights.

This day was first celebrated in Texas. Juneteenth has its own flag that was created in 1977 by Ben Haith. Colour of the flag is the same as American flag but its symbol is unique. But still it’s not legally announced as a national holiday.

On this day, African-American celebrate with red food and drink ( red velvet cake, red beans, strawberry soda, watermelon, hibiscus tea). For African Americans, Juneteenth is much more than a celebration. Juneteenth is a popular time for Black family and friends for reunions.
