International Plastic Bag Free Day – 3rd July 2024 | History | Download Images, Photos, Quotes, Status, and Pics
International Plastic Bag Free Day, celebrated on July
3, is a global initiative aimed at eliminating the use of plastic bags. Plastic
bags may seem convenient for grocery shopping, but they also put a huge strain
on the environment.
This day’s significance is very intense and must be
taken into account because of its grave implications for the planet. It takes
100 to 500 years for a plastic bag to completely degrade, leaving tiny
particles that release harmful chemicals into the environment, and one trillion
plastic bags are consumed worldwide each year.
Due to their lightweight, plastic bags travel a lot on
water and land and only 1% of the total plastic produced is recycled. So, this
day is a global initiative to eliminate or reduce these hazardous plastics and
to raise awareness about the cleaning, disposal, and disposal of these plastic
bags.
We must anticipate future dangers that will soon
affect marine and terrestrial ecosystems. Few solutions to the problem are:
stop the use of plastic bags, the government can ban, tax, or make other
agreements on the use of plastic bags, adopt eco-bags already available on the
market, and help clean up the waste that has been dumped irresponsibly for
years.
Importance of International Plastic Bag Free Day
1.
Marine
will be thankful
Plastic bags are wreaking
havoc in our oceans. Less plastic bags means more whales, sea turtles, and
dolphins.
2.
There
are easy alternatives
Not only is doing this important but using a reusable bag is easy and many times cheaper. Wherever you shop, you can usually find them near the check-out.
3.
You
can save the world
There are 7 billion people on
this planet and it is vital that they each must do their part. Reduce, reuse
and recycle today.
How International Plastic Bag Free Day is Celebrated
1.
Stop
using plastic bags
The best way to celebrate is
also the easiest way to do it. Wherever you are on July 3rd, from the grocery
store to the park to the restaurant, make sure you don't use plastic bags and
order them.
2.
Reduce,
reuse, and recycle
Another great way to celebrate
is to recycle and upcycle the things around you. Even if you have some plastic
bags, don't throw them away. You can use them as extra trash bags or as an
alternative to a lunch box as just a few examples.
3.
Practice
your green thumb
Use your day to help Mother Nature a thumbs up. It's the perfect time to plant a new tree or plant some pretty flowers. The planet and the wildlife around your home will thank you.
