History
Richard Lower was the first person who examined animal blood circulation and found ways to stop blood clotting.
He succeeded in getting the blood of a medium-sized dog. And then transfused large mastiff blood into that dog. But both dogs recovered without facing any problem. He received a lot of praise for this effort.
At that time there were some strange beliefs about blood, and the first human transfusion involved the blood of a sheep in a patient who was suffering from a mild form of dementia.
Many questions were raised and condemned by the authorities on the work of inserting blood of animals into patients. And this practice was outlawed.
It was a Doctor who brought back this technology into modern medical technology. He started working on it day and night. After some time, their hard work paid off and saved the life of a woman. He made 10 transfusions and saved the lives of 5 of them.
Then he published and told everyone how he did it. The first event of World Blood Day took place in 2012, with the aim that people should know how important blood donation is.
Since then, this event has been declared by WHO, World Blood Donor Day, celebrated every year.
