World Cancer Day
World cancer day is observed on 4th February to create awareness of cancer and to uplift its prevention, detection and treatment. World Cancer Day is driven by the union for international cancer control to support the objectives of the world cancer declaration written in 2008.

The main goal of World Cancer Day is to remarkably reduce illness and death caused by cancer and maybe a chance to rally the international community to finish the injustice of preventable suffering from cancer. The day is observed by the United Nations.

Multiple activities are run on World Cancer Day to show support for those who are affected by cancer. As we all knew that cancer is the uncontrolled development of abnormal cells anywhere in a body.

There are various types of cancer, usually named for the organs or tissues where the cancers form. The world has the highest occurrence of this disease.

World cancer day History
On 4 February 2000 at the World Cancer Summit Against Cancer for the New Millenium, which was held in Paris the first World Cancer Day was established.

The Charter of Paris Against Cancer, which was made to promote research, prevent cancer, improve patient services, also included an article establishing the anniversary of the document's official signing as World Cancer Day, was signed at the Summit by the then General Director of UNESCO, Koichiro Matsuura, and then French President Jacques Chirac in Paris on 4 February 2000.

Why World Cancer Day is Celebrated?
The main motive of celebrating this day is making people aware to reduce the number of cancer patients by 2022 and to reduce the death rate causing due to it and how to identify the symptoms of cancer, and educate people, as well as to prepare government and non-governmental organisations to help in fighting this deadly disease all over the world.

Not just this, the objective of celebrating World Cancer Day is to reduce the misunderstanding about cancer and help people to get the right information about it. There are many myths related to this disease as many of the people behave with cancer patients untouchable, they think that if people will live with cancer patients they will also get cancer.

Hence, people must know how and what type of treatment is given to cancer patients. The Cancer suffering people have all the right to live like normal person and they must feel self-respect and should get a normal environment in their home and society.

World Cancer Day Theme
Every Year World Cancer Day has Celebrated with some special themes like in 2019-2022 the campaign theme is 'I Am and I Will'.

The theme looks to counter the negative attitude and fatalistic belief that nothing can be done about cancer and instead promotes how our personal actions can be powerful and impactful. Respectively in the year 2015, the theme was not beyond us, continue to 2016 to 2018 it was “we can, I can”.
