Taj Mahotsav is a tribute to its vibrant culture and art. The Taj Mahal is a gift by the Mughal rulers to the nation. So, the fest is the recollection of all the tradition exhibiting during Mughal era in the 18th and 19th century. For instance, riding camel and elephants or enjoying some of prominent Mughlai cuisines at the Taj Mahotsav.

History of Taj Mahotsav

Back in 1992, the Taj Mahotsav organized for the first time in the country. The two objective which the Taj Mahotsav covers include tourism and to encourage local craftsman. Although the existence of the Taj Mahal already brings a lot of tourism to the state to uplift, it more is the reason for its start. During its initial years, the participation only includes local artisans. The slowly and steadily rising fame results in the assembling of many artisans here.   

    
When is Taj Mahotsav celebrated?

February is the best month to visit Taj Mahal as the Taj Mahotsav also date in this month every year. From starting to ending it goes straight to ten days. All the celebration takes place in Shilpgram located nearby the Taj Mahal monument. 

It is famous for bringing many powerhouses of talents in all the ten days. These talents are from every corner of the nation and present a range of art form. From Kashmir on the north to the Tamil Nadu in the south to the Gujrat in the west to West Bengal in the east. You just name it, and you will see the famous artwork of these areas only at the Taj Mahotsav. 

The royal celebration kicks off with a victory sign where camels and elephants decorated beautifully displayed at the entrance of it. It will undoubtedly give you the glimpse of how it used to be at the time when Mughal Emperor return with a victory.   

   
What do people do on Taj Mahotsav?

Spectators from India and overseas look forward to attending this unique fest. Moreover, the entry to the event is unbelievably inexpensive. That is, one can enjoy the entire show by spending just 40 Indian bucks. While for children it is only 10 Indian bucks and the abroad visitors don’t have to pay at all for entering. From tasting some of the authentic cuisines to buying the beautiful artworks, one can spend his time in various ways.
